Kicking off Earth Month with Earth Hour
Earth Day is coming. I like to think about ways to improve our planet EVERY day, but it’s great that Earth Day moves the environment to the forefront of more people’s minds. This year, why don’t we expand earth awareness to a whole month?
What better way to kick it off than by turning off the lights for just one hour tonight? Earth Hour is celebrated all over the planet, and all you need to do to participate is turn off your lights at 8:30pm, wherever you are, for one hour. We like to go a little further, turn off and unplug almost everything, not just the lights, and take the dog for a walk to see how many other people have their lights out. When we get back, we light candles and enjoy a little peace and quiet.
From the WWF web site:
Earth Hour raises awareness of sustainability issues. But there’s more to it than switching off lights for one hour once a year. It’s about giving people a voice and working together to create a better future for our planet.
